Yang penting have fun & jaga SOP !

Hotel review : sari pasifica resort, pulau sibu, Mersing

It was an unplanned trip for the weekend. My husband and I felt like we really needed a break, so we booked a room at Sari Pasifika resort on our way to Tanjung Leman Jetty, Mersing.

Sibu island is a small island not too far from mainland of Mersing, Johor and the only way to get there is by boat. When we booked for the room, we include the boat ride in our booking as well. There’s only 2 trips daily to the hotel, so if you missed it you might have to pay a greater fees to rent for a private ride.

It was end of April, which supposed to be a good time to visit the island, but unfortunately the weather is not good. Boat ride to the island is bumpy and water is not as clear as it should be. So during this short trip, we spend all of our time enjoying hotel facilities

Some of the pictures we took at the hotel jetty

When we arrived at the hotel jetty, hotel staff came with a lorry to carry our baggage but hotel guests have to walk to the hotel lobby. It’s not a long walk, at least for me,  I only remember the beautiful scenery of the sea and mangrove. It is truly therapeutic and don’t forget to take pictures here, the view is definitely instaworthy.

Walking path to hotel lobby

In the lobby, check in process took a little longer than I expected. But on the bright side, there’s a great view of hotel private beach and a glass of complimentary juice. Refreshing ! There are 3 types of room here, hill view, beach view and garden view. While beach view and garden view rooms are near to the lobby and other facilities, hill view room (our room) is up the hill which obviously means we have to hike a little. But, in my opinion, this room has the best view in the entire resort.

Hotel staff helps to carry our bags to our room, but again, we had to walk. The room was spacious ! With magnificent view. We can see the hill, trees, the beach, hotel pool and straight across the sea is Mentinggi island. It is quiet up here, I can only hear the sound of waves and the forest and my husband’s voice.

The magnificent view of the beach from our room

Each room has balcony for you to enjoy the scenery. Our room was equipped with a king bed facing the balcony which is excellent, we woke up the next morning with a great view.

Other facilities are basic, they have tv with movie channels, coffee, sofa and a safe. The bathroom was spacious too, some of the area is open which allow natural light to come in. They even have a jaccuzi, i didn’t try it because the hotel staff said there is not enough power on the island to turn it on. Here i’m thinking didn’t they do any research before? If it’s true, since all other rooms have it too, can you imagine how much money they’ve wasted?

Our original plan for the day was to go for snorkeling. unfortunately, due to bad weather, the hotel had to cancel the trip. By the way, you can also book for the trip in advance when booking for the room, maybe it’ll be cheaper. They also offer other activites too like kayaking, jungle tracking and scuba diving. Do check out their full package. The only activity that is safe for us now is to enjoy their infinity pool and the beach.

Hotel beach was so peaceful, not flooded by visitors. Kinda feel like it’s ours. The beach area was clean, although the facilities are a bit run down, but we’re here to enjoy their white soft sand. If you walk along the beach you’ll find a rocky area which is instaworthy too, don’t forget to snap some pictures here.

Dinner available near the hotel area, is only in the hotel restaurant. You can choose to include meals too when booking for your room, but we didn’t. Our original plan was to walk around the village for dinner but due to bad weather we end up buying a cup of overpriced instant noodle at the hotel to enjoy on our balcony facing mentinggi island. The next day we had breakfast at hotel restaurant, it was basic and not so many choices but it’s not bad.

Check out was fast, however we had to wait too long for our boat ride to the jetty. I wish they would’ve inform us earlier and let us wait in our room instead of the hotel lobby. Overall considering the cheap rate I got for the room, the magnificent view, friendly staff and cleanliness, I rate them 4 out of 5.
